We might be getting a bit ahead of ourselves here as this years Formula 1 season has only just ended but we wanted to make sure you were ready for next season, even though we have a while to wait. Firstly, congratulations to Louis Hamilton again and his team Mercedes for winning the Championship and also Sports Personality of the year but we are already thinking about next year! So we are here to give you a round up of how the teams and drivers stand at the moment so you can get to know them a bit better.
Lewis Hamilton: Stevenage born Lewis is now a two time champion of Formula 1 racing and he is going into his third year with Mercedes at age 29.
Nico Rosberg: Nico is from Wiesbaden, Germany and just missed out on winning the championship last year to his team mate so will come back this year fighting hard. We are very excited!
Daniel Ricciardo: Daniel was born in Perth, Australia and will be going into his second year at Red Bull in 2015. At 25 he has received 8 podiums in his career.
Daniil Kvyat: From Ufa, Bashkortostan in Russia Daniil has previously driven for Toro Rosso and is only 20! He is yet to score any podium positions but all eyes will be on him in 2015….no pressure or anything.
Sebastian Vettel: Vettel this year has moved from Red Bull to Ferrari after being with them for a long time and winning all of his championships with them. The 27 year old from Heppenheim, Germany has won the championship four times and is looking for a fifth.
Kimi Räikkönen: Finnish racer Kimi, has previously raced for Lotus but now is with Ferrari. He had a disappointing season in 2014 finishing 12th overall so we are hoping in 2015 he can have a better year.
Jenson Button: British driver Jenson is one of our favourites and at the age of 34 he has been champion once. It has only been recently announced that he will drive for McLaren as his previous team mate Kevin Magnussen could have taken his spot.
Fernando Alonso: Spanish born Alonso is still one of the most skilled Formula 1 drivers around and has previously raced for Ferrari but this year moved to McLaren. He has already got 2 world champions under his belt and is looking to make it three this year.
Valtteri Bottas: Bottas is Finnish like Kimi Räikkönen and has been with Williams for two seasons so far. Although he is one of the new drivers he managed to out perform his team mate last season and gain six podium positions.
Felipe Massa: Massa has been a driver in Formula 1 since 2002, incredible right? However he has never won a Championship. His team mate beat him last season but managed to score the teams only pole position of the season.
Romain Grosjean: Grosjean is from France and has built up a reputation of being very fast and you may recognise his from David Guetta’s new music video.
Pastor Maldonando: Maldonando began racing in Formula 1 in 2011 and as Lotus are using Mercedes engines next year he hopes to place highly in the Championship.
Sergio Perez: Perez started racing for Sauber in 2011 and then moved to McLaren and after some disappointing races moved to race for Force India. He managed to finish 10th in the 2014 Grand Prix.
Nico Hulkenberg: Nico began his Formula 1 journey in 2010 racing for Williams but was dropped after one season. He then has moved from Force India to Sauber and then back again last year. Which we think was a good move.
Here come the newbies:
Carlos Sainz Jr: So we don’t know much about his yet but we do know that in the Formula Renault 3.5 he became the series’ youngest ever champion. (He is only 20!)
Max Verstappen: Max is the only Dutchman on the grid and all we know about him is he gained 10 victories and 16 podiums in the FIA European F3 in 2014.
Marcus Erricsson: The swedish youngster is new to Formula 1 as well joining in 2014 with Caterham but had to move when they hit financial problems.
Felipe Nasr: Felipe is another one of the younger drivers on the grid and 2015 will be his first time in Formula 1, another exciting one to watch this season.
Now we are even more excited for next season and will of course keep you updated with any news and information.
Until then check out the BBC Formula 1 site for more information about the drivers.
