Who wants to stay indoors when the sun shines? Not us for sure so the hunt for the best rooftop bars in the UK is on and we have pulled together our favourite selection. Who needs a holiday when we have the finest bars here in the UK!
Cambridge – The Varsity Hotel
This garden oasis in the centre of town can be found on the roof of The Varsity Hotel, Cambridge. They serve BBQ food while you relax on a sofa in the sun and the views over the whole city are simply amazing. Who needs to be down there with the students and the tourists when you can be lording it on high above the city.
London – Aqua Kyoto
This is actually two venues in one being divided into Spanish and Japanese (yes we know, weird paring but it kind of works), Aqua Kyoto lauds it high above Regent Street so you really can’t get much more central than that. So you can dine first then make your way to one of the amazing terraces where the London rooftops are magical.
Birmingham – The Church
British eccentricity meets a touch of New Orleans in this Art Nouveau building where you head for the roof where you will find an amazing rooftop bar complete with an old church throne. It’s also the head quarters of the Soul Food Project so is as cool as it gets.
London – Sushi Samba
We were here the other night and it was raining which was a huge shame as the views have to be amongst the best anywhere in the world. Found on the 39th floor of the Heron Tower, this amazing outdoors bar comes complete with a tree covered in twinkling orange lights and firepits to keep you warm. The cocktail list is as extensive as the view.
Manchester – Manchester House
Don’t be put off by the fact that this looks like one of the many office blocks in the area, Manchester House has a bar on the 12th floor and you will get, not just some great views over the city, but some great cocktails too. Food is plentiful too so there’s no excuse not to party all night.
Leeds – Cielo Blanco
This has a glass roof so you can stay there late without too much of a worry while munching on superb tacos and downing a few tasty margaritas. Or you can brave it al fresco in the Margarita Garden terrace on nights that are more balmy.
Manchester – Black Dog Ballroom
Another one from Manchester, here’s another bar that knows how to do a great BBQ but also with karaoke thrown in. The terrace is all exposed brick and birdcages alongside a beach style bar with tropical drinks. You can even get breakfast until mid-afternoon and the downstairs main bar is open until 4am.
Birmingham – Marco Pierre White
Affordable luxury – well that’s how Marco Pierre White describes this ultra-chic 25th floor champagne bar which gives you amazing views across the city from it’s glass-fronted balcony. Find it at the Marco Pierre White Steakhouse Grill.
