Film Review: Bleed for This | The Perfect Man

Film Review: Bleed for This

By Katrina Deisler

Based on the heart-wrenching true story, Miles Teller stars as boxer Vinny Pazienza in Bleed For This, which opens in cinemas December 2.

When the film begins, Pazienza is on top of the world, a lightweight boxing champion with all the money, women, and fame he could ever want. When a tragic accident leaves Vinny unsure if he will ever walk again, much less fight, he is devastated. But Vinny, famous for his determination and heart, refuses to give up. With the help of his trainer, Kevin (Aaron Eckhart), he begins to train again, determined to get himself back in the boxing ring.

Teller’s performance is absolutely incredible, and if that isn’t enough, he is ripped and frequently shirtless in the film. The cast (including Katey Sagal, Ciarán Hinds, and Ted Levine) work beautifully together to convey family values and personal relationships in the complex world of professional boxing. The inspiring story will having you laughing at some parts and crying in others. Pazienza’s inspiring perseverance and successes despite adversity say a lot about the value of hard work.  In my opinion, Bleed For This is a total knockout.
