Wimbledon begins Monday 27 June but don’t worry if you haven’t gotten your hands on a ticket. There are plenty of places all over London that you will be able to unwind, dine and have a great viewing of the matches. Ranging from pop-ups to perfect places to enjoy strawberries and cream, there is a place for everyone to enjoy a spot of tennis.
Bread Street and Kitchen have transformed its restaurant into a small piece of Wimbledon. The restaurant installs stands, television screens and supplies picnic blankets to give guests the feeling of being at the tennis courts. Food and drink ranges from picnic favourites to special cocktails – all will be served on a vintage tennis racket and tennis shaped bowls.
As soon as you see big tennis balls it can only mean one thing – Wimbledon is here and Bluebird is ready. Bluebird’s busy courtyard is transformed for tennis lovers. Relax on the courtyard and watch the matches on a big screen, not to mention Bluebird offers a unique menu and makes sure there is a glass of Pimm’s in hand. If you wait until the Men’s Final Match to visit Bluebird, they offer a special menu that will cost you £75 for a starter, entree and dessert.
Enter a grassy rooftop to watch the finals and relax on picnic hampers at Wimbledon Wonderland Picnic. Grab yourself a ticket for £60 to receive a cocktail, a private hamper full of quirky picnic foods. You can enjoy the taste of naturally flavoured green and purple sandwiches, edible tennis balls, glitter brownies and of course-strawberries and cream!
Now-if you are constantly on the go there are plenty of fields available to relax and watch a match.
Get there early to save yourself a front row seat. This Pop Field is equipped with two bars and kiosks serving a variety of different street food favourites. Not to mention, if you are feeling like a tennis pro, you can take your skills to an artificial sports time so you can play and watch the matches. The Pop Fields will also be showing football, rugby and cricket so you can stay even if the matches go into overtime.
Deck chairs will be provided for guests to kick back and relax as the tennis matches are projected onto a big screen. The Hammersmith Summer Festival also offers a variety of events throughout the summer to keep you entertained, before and after the matches. Not to mention, it is important to look out for the Strawberry Wall to enjoy free strawberries.
If you’re near King’s Cross, make sure you don’t miss Wimbledon on the big screen. This is the perfect place to go if you are looking to lounge on a deck chair but also enjoy summer favourites. Those viewing the event are invited to treat themselves to Pimm’s and strawberries along with other refreshments.
