Profile of Miles Teller | The Perfect Man

Star Profile: Miles Teller

Miles Teller definitely isn’t having an “awkward moment” in his career (that’s a reference to the film he starred in alongside Zac Efron just in case you didn’t get that!) as of late. One of Sundance Film Festival’s breakout stars for two years running, Teller is making his mark on the silver screen with buzz worthy performances in Whiplashwhich debuted at Sundance and is premiering this week, and That Awkward Moment, which hit U.K. cinemas earlier this year and also stars Zac Efron and Michael B. Jordan.

The 26-year-old actor is on an upward trajectory of fame: his career really picked up speed last year when he starred alongside Shailene Woodley in romantic drama The Spectacular Now. Before making his foray into the world of cinema, Teller graduated from New York University’s prestigious Tisch School of the Arts.

Most would agree that a big part of Teller’s appeal is that he has the “guy-next-door” look to him, with his style equally as effortless. Casual, yet sharp and put-together, he looks comfortable and confident whether in a leather jacket, t-shirt, and jeans, or a tailored suit. He never appears as though he’s trying too hard, bringing an unexpected authenticity to red carpets he frequents these days.

If you do a quick Google search for his name, though, one of the suggested searches is “Miles Teller scars.” The actor talked about the noticeable marks on his face recently in an interview, explaining that the scars are the result of a serious car accident back in 2007. He’s quite casual talking about the past incident, and he’s clearly moved on given the incredible strides his career has taken.
There is a lot on Teller’s schedule this year, so get ready to see his name in even more lights. His bromance with Zac Efron and Michael B. Jordan is on display at cinemas right now in That Awkward Moment, and we’ll see him again in March when the highly-anticipated film adaptation of Divergent is released.
He’s completed work on a romantic comedy called Two Night Stand set to release later this year, as is another comedy, Get a Job, with Anna Kendrick and Bryan Cranston. Next year, Teller will have his third onscreen reunion with Shailene Woodley in sci-fi/action flick Insurgent, currently in the pre-production phase. The most recent gossip has pinned Miles as a candidate for the role of Mr. Fantastic in a Fox reboot of the Fantastic Four after he reportedly participated in a screen test for the film.
Miles’s acting range has proved to be quite large, and we can’t wait to watch him take on even more diverse roles as his career progresses. In the meantime, check out the trailer for Whiplash here!
