Based on the true story of one of the UK’s greatest leaders Winston Churchill, the new movie Churchill follows what happened under his command during World War II.
Starring Brian Cox, Miranda Richardson, John Slattery, Ella Purnell, the story follows Churchill in the day before the infamous D-Day landings in June 1944. In a secret meeting, all allied forces await Churchill’s decision on whether the invasion will actually move ahead. But he has a dilemma on his mind, afraid he’ll repeat the same mistakes from WWI on the beaches of Gallipoli, exhausted by years of war, overtaken by depression and obsessed with achieving greatness. The UK Prime Minister is also faced with political opponents; General Eisenhower and Field Marshal Montgomery. Only the unflinching support of Churchill’s brilliant wife Clementine can halt the Prime Minister’s physical and mental collapse and help lead him to greatness.
Churchill is out in UK cinemas on 16th June 2017.
