With Wimbledon hitting off on Monday 29th June, we decided to look into some of the top players and some of the brands they are sponsored by.
The title holder of Wimbledon 2014 men’s, Novak Djokovic, joined forces with Uniqlo in 2012 for a five year contract as brand ambassador worth $8 million per year. The Serbian athlete is considered one of the greatest tennis players of all time and has achieved worldwide stardom. His success has reached breaking point grabbing the attention of brands in the likes of Jacobs Greek, Peugeot and Seiko. This year Novak has been seeded as No.1 for Wimbledon.
Woman’s winner of Wimbledon 2014, Serena Williams is also No.1 for the seeding in this years championships. Celebrating her 20th year as a tennis pro, Serena’s success reflects largely in her endorsement deals with brands in the likes of Chase, Audemars Piguet and major carbonated drinks company PepsiCo. As a brand ambassador for Pepsi, Serena is involved in the Pepsi Challenge, where she reveal’s a monthly challenge through social media.
Wimbledon’s official sponsors Slazenger, Robinsons, IBM, Hertz, Lanson, Ralph Lauren, HSBC, Evian, Jacobs Greek, Lavazza, Stella Artois and Jaguar and Land Rover. The 2014 championships saw brands in the likes of Evian taking a comic approach to showcase the tournament with their video featuring Rizzle Kicks and Maria Sharpova.
